One two, one crappy shoe.....

After a couple of hours of cutting, pinning, sewing, head scratching and remarkably little swearing I have produced one baby shoe. In theory that is. The swearing did not really start until I saw the finished product: what was meant to be a little shoe looked more like a life raft made of fabric by an engineer without a measuring tape and a water level....

Back to the drawing board and projects with straight seams only!

The chicken gang

While waiting for something worthy of a show- off to manifest from my knitting needles, I'm taking the opportunity to introduce you to some of my Easter chickens. Thank you to mum who sent me this craft set all the way from home, and reignited the love of crafting :)

Knitting needles 1, me-0

Despite spending the better part of my day in a craft store knitting a square for a charity blanket, my (new) knitting needles and I have been fighting all night. Earlier today I was "purling" away like knitting was going out of fashion, but as soon as I got home, it was all forgotten. So, here I am with a meter of lovely green yarn that is starting to look rather frazzled after being knitted and pulled apart over and over. I even had a look at YouTube lesson, but I think my needles must bewitched cause I'm no closer to the target....

More dust-blowing.

After racing home from work as if chased by a mob with swine flu, I made it to the post office in time to pick up my new sewing machine. She has been named Harriet, and has made it out of the box. That is also as far as she has moved, seeing as I have not got any thread to speak of at home. An old friend I have reconnected with on Facebook (herself a very crafty type) tells me she is excited to see what I come up with. So am I....

Belly does not equal baby

Being inspired by checking out a lot of craft blogs lately, I thought I'd blow the dust of my own blog. It's fairly safe to assume that no one will actually stumble upon this blog apart from my family, but then again who knows...

Even though no one would see and comment on my blog, I rest assured as someone seems to like to comment on me "live". As I have gained some extra insulation for winter, I have endured no less than three sets of comments in relation to my belly. Common denominator: baby. As I am currently in the eye of a baby tornado, where everyone either has a child, is pregnant or planning to be, my life is remarkably still in that department. Never the less, three independent people have accused me of being pregnant, which I find a little odd. I personally work under the premise that if someone wants me to know that they are expecting, they will tell me. Alas, the world does not agree. In all fairness, one of the above people was probably demented, and thereby partly excused. Not so with the remaining two. Upon me answering that "No, I'm not pregnant", the last one proceeds to ask me "Are you sure?" Well, now that you mention it, I might be, who knows these days with all sorts of modern technology, it might have happened without me knowing?!?

So, for everyone out there: Am I pregnant? No. Am I sure: Yes. Am I chubby: Also Yes. Will I attempt to smother the next person who asks this question with my voluminous belly: Yes again.

Be alert, but not alarmed....

This is your captain speaking....

You know that you might as well pitch your tent in the internaional terminal when your flight is yet to appear on the gate screens. Even thought there is six screens in a row.... "Welcome to Frankfurt Airport, this will be your home for the next 10 hrs. Thanks for choosing us after having spent 13 hrs at Gardermoen (Oslo). We can offer endless rows of gates, and people smoking indoors. Enjoy your stay!"

To put it simple: I'm glad I've landed and don't have to board another plane for a fair while!

Home and Away

Five weeks in Norway have gone past in a blast. Felt strangely slightly out of place at first, but a few days down the track I'm back in business as if I never left. This of course is helped by the exceptional situation Christmas brings. Friends are off work, back home on holidays from everywhere and have plenty of time for socialising into the late hours. And of course, then all of a sudden it is time to return to the other place I call "home". Slightly warmer, at least this time of the year :)

The stay here in Norway has been coloured by travelling around the country to meet family and friends that I hadn't sen for two and a half year. Many nice meetings, but of course equally many good-byes.

After a holiday filled consisting of lazy days, way too much food, not enough snow and plenty of board game nights, it's back to everyday life with studying and soaps. I'm looking forward to it and hope that all you out there are enjoying the new year as well!

God Nytt År / Happy New Year!
